Melvin MILLER Obituary
MILLER, Melvin

Melvin Miller, 52, of Riviera Beach, passed away suddenly on January 29, 2014 in the company of family and friends. He was born August 1, 1961 in Parkdale, AR, and was one of the nine boys and four girls born to Junior and Away Miller. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Rosie Foster and brother, Robert Miller. After leaving home, he joined the U. S. Army where he served for eight years. Paramount during his service were the birth of a son, Shawn, and his tour of duty in Tongduchon, South Korea, where he met Theresa Carr with whom he lived, laughed, loved and shared the rest of his life. After the military, Melvin, Theresa and their son, Donnell settled in Florida where Melvin worked at the Publix Distribution Warehouse in Boynton Beach for almost 18 years as a motor operator and selector. His fun and enjoyment came from family, barbecuing, music, fishing, watching his Chicago Bulls play, and playing practical jokes on family and friends. Those left to remember him are his wife of 24 years, Theresa Carr Miller, sons, Donnell (Tangie) Carr, Coral Springs, FL and Shawn Hunter, Colorado Springs, CO and his two grandchildren, Trajan and Tanzie Wright. His sisters, Villie Gray, Spearsville, LA, Shirley Miller, Oklahoma City, OK and Patricia Miller, Parkdale, AR. His brothers, Robert (Elizabeth), Crossett, AR; Willie E. (Jackie), Port St. Lucie, FL; Leroy, Orlando, FL; Jerry, Portland, OR; Willie (Seretta), Oklahoma City, OK; James E. and James L. (Felecia), Parkdale, AR; and Jamal, Atlanta, GA. Also grieving are his in-laws, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Dodson and sister-in-law, Jackie Carr along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A viewing and memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8 at Shuler's Memorial Chapel, 5301 Australian Avenue, Mangonia Park, FL. Viewing will be between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM to be immediately followed by a memorial service at the same location.
