H. Louise Hollis HILLIARD Obituary
HILLIARD, H. Louise Hollis

H. Louise Hollis Hilliard, a resident of Georgetown, TX, joined her beloved "Bill" early Monday morning on the 19th of May, 2014. Her husband of 48 years, William H. Hilliard, preceded her in death 17 years ago. Louise, the daughter of the late Ralph and Hermione Hollis, was born in West Palm Beach, FL, on December 15, 1929. Her father was one of the officers entombed on the USS Arizona. Louise and Bill lived for many years in New Orleans and Covington, LA. She moved to Georgetown, TX in 2004. She graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1947, attended Palm Beach Jr. College and worked for a number of years at The Palm Beach Post. She moved to New Orleans, LA in 1965 where she worked for Shell Oil, Upton Printing and later Marathon Oil. She was an active member of St. Luke's Methodist Church in New Orleans. She moved to Covington, LA, where she served for many years on the zoning board for St. Tammany Parish, was a volunteer for Hospice and was an active member of the League of Women's Voters. She was actively involved in her husband's architectural hardware business in Metairie, LA. When she moved to Georgetown, Louise was an active member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She enjoyed participating in the annual Harvest Festival, raising money for the church and local charities. She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Hollis Brookshire (husband Charles) of Commerce, TX, and her four children, Susan Hilliard Bass (husband Thomas "Tab") of Richmond, VA, William Wayne Hilliard (wife Mary Boylan) of Covington, LA, April Hilliard Fontana (husband Chris) of Lafayette, LA and Ralph D. Hilliard (wife Phyllis Landry) of Georgetown, TX, and 12 grandchildren; Jeff Bass, Alison Bass Lueker, Christy Bass Sehl, Adrienne Hilliard, Nicole Hilliard Ruemker, Kimberly Hilliard, Kristen Hilliard, Chloe Boylan, Wesley Fontana, Preston Fontana, Raymond Hilliard, Sarah Hilliard Coulter; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated and proud mother and set a shining example of what being a grandmother is truly about. Louise was a kind, giving, loving person, and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In her last act of generosity she elected to will her body for research. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 12 Noon at St. John's United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 311 E. University Ave., Georgetown, TX, or to your local .
