Helen Tobin CAIRNES Obituary
CAIRNES, Helen Tobin

Helen T. Cairnes, 101, died Wednesday, July 23, 2014, with family at her side at Lourdes-Noreen McKeen Residence in West Palm Beach, FL. Mrs. Cairnes was born May 2, 1913, in New Haven, CT. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph F. Cairnes, son Joe Cairnes, 2 grandchildren, and 3 brothers. Helen was loved as a Wife, Mother, "Boo-ful" Grandma, GG, and Friend. She exemplified an elegant and gracious example to all who shared her company. Her joy and love of family and faith defined and guided her as she served twice as President of St. Edward's Guild. Often times you could find Helen with a Rosary praying to the Blessed Mother but only if she didn't have cards in her hands winning at one game or another. Helen served as host to many events during her husband Joe's tenure with the Milwaukee Braves and Palm Beach's Westward Expansion. She was actively involved with Rosarian Home & School Assoc. and a former member of the Sailfish Club where you will see her name on many Bridge trophies. Surviving family members include: 5 children, Edward (Jan), Lake Park, FL, Mary Kotek-Beck (Richard), Crossville, TN, Thomas (Debbie), Hobe Sound, FL, Anne Lynch (Bryan), Boxborough, MA, Ellen Porter (John), Hudson, MA; 15 grandchildren, Mary Jo Gary (Jim), Joseph, III (Lisa), Molly; John (Kathleen), Rev. Michael, Kevin; John Kotek (Denise), Michelle Sitzer, William Kotek (Michele); Thomas, Jr., Daniel, Katherine; Briana Duffy, Kristen Lynch; Heather Ingram and 18 great-grandchildren. Her family will receive friends from 4:00PM until 7:00PM on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 5411 Okeechobee Boulevard, West Palm Beach, FL 33417. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:15AM on Monday, July 28, 2014 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 144 North County Road, Palm Beach, FL 33480. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that you consider contributions in her memory to Lourdes-Noreen McKeen Residence, 311 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, FL 33401.
