It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing away of Nick Lioce, 65, of Palm Beach Gardens. He was born February 13, 1951 and passed away March 10, 2016 from complications following heart surgery. Originally from New Jersey, his family moved to Riviera Beach in the 1950's. His father Dominick, worked at Pratt & Whitney while his mother Evelyn raised him and his sister Laraine and Brother David. He graduated from Riviera Beach High School and went on to attend Florida State University, where he earned a Bachelor's and Master's of Accountancy. He then graduated from Florida State University College of Law in 1979. He loved FSU and was an active alumni. Nick was a partner at Nason, Yeager, Gerson, White, and Lioce in Palm beach Gardens, specializing in tax law. He was Past President of The Palm Beach Tax institute, Chairman of The Tax Section of The Florida Bar, Past President of The American Association of Attorney-CPA'S and a member of the Board of Directors of The Florida Lawyers mutual insurance company. He was past chairman of The Forum Club of the Palm Beaches and was an author/speaker on numerous tax topics. Nick's great passion was music, and he spent much of his free time as the lead singer of the eponymous Nick-O-Rockwa and Contra Band. With a songbook featuring classic rock and R&B hits, they played many venues across Palm Beach County. Despite an ever changing lineup, Nick remained a constant during the band's 30 year run. Nick is survived by his wife Pamela Cherry Lioce, his son Michael Lioce, wife Ash Lioce, grandson Domenick, granddaughter Leeta, his daughter Christina Lioce Cramer, husband Chris Cramer and his sister Laraine Cheek, husband John Cheek. I was so sad to hear of Nicks passing. He was my first little league football coach in Palm Beach Gardens in 1969. He was only 18 at the time and already taking a leadership role while guiding his younger brother and the team to a championship. I was reunited later in life with Nick and we shared a great professional relationship which included many lunches. Nick was kind, brilliant and very loyal. He loved his Nason Yeager family. You will be missed and remembered my friend!

Nick, rest in peace. It was a joy having you in our life. You gave us so many fun and great memories. Playing golf with you at Indian Creek many years ago when you rode as I drove the cart into a pond, and then to compound the horror, I fell into you on the bandstand at the Crazy Horse while you were performing--you never got angry. We had the honor of having you marry my wife Lynne and I in 1996.You will remain in our memory as a true gentleman, always the life of any party--a man with a great heart and soul. We will miss you. Henry and Lynne Quartullo

What a shock. I just learned today, March 15, of Nick's passing. We were great college friends at Florida State and kept in contact over all these years since. I remember such great times with him at FSU and some real crazy time too! With his great singing voice and sly humor, Nick, you were the life a many a party. I'm glad to have known you and sad to see you go from this world.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our friend and colleague. As a Director of Florida Lawyers Mutual, Nick's keen intellect was surpassed only by his joy and warmth, all of which were freely given. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lioce family during this difficult time. We will miss Nick greatly.

I'll always remember Nick's BIG personality that always brought a smile. Nick was blessed in so many ways, he was smart, savvy, generous, musically talented, and an aggressive defender of the law. He had the energy of two people, the heart of a lion, the temper of a Zeus, his wit was as quick as Robin Williams, and his humor was off the charts!

Our friend will be deeply missed. I know every time I hear "Mustang Sally", or "Brown-eyed Girl" I will shed a tear. Nick has now climbed the stairway to heaven - and he leaves behind a world that is a better place for those who knew and loved him.

Rock On Nick!

I was surprised and saddened to hear of Nick's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing Nick as a friend, a Dad and an attorney for over 20 years. He will be missed as a member of the community, as a mentor to lawyers and as a great advocate for his clients. I will also miss hearing him sing as part of his band. Many prayers and condolences to his children and family.

Even in this hour of overwhelming grief and sadness, the half century of joy, laughter and friendship Nick brought us scatters light over the darkness of his passing. Through his work, through his music, through his extraordinary personality, he lifted all those who were blessed to know him. We mourn his loss, but we thank God for all that came before.
