Family-Placed Obituary

PATRICIA ANN SCOTTO SAPP Age 51, of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Palms West Hospital, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Born in Brookhaven, NY, on the fourth of July, Patty aspired to make this world a better place through unselfish acts of kindness. Although her life was full of difficult obstacles she conquered them all. After beating scoliosis when she was young she later moved to Orlando FL, and accepted the challenge of being a single mother. Of course she persevered with the help from her best friend, another young mother, Carol. Later she met a young man to settle down with and start a family. An excellent homemaker, she decided to begin working with special needs children in public schools. Little did she know this would be her calling; soon after she would give birth to twin boys with a rare genetic disorder. The stress of this complicated situation would break the will of some friends and family members but not hers. Against the advice of many physicians she raised her sons and overwhelmed then with her love. Having disabled children allowed many unique experiences including meeting Gloria Estefan, Stevie Wonder, Cher, Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, and Dale Earnhardt Sr. among others. All of which donated their time and championed causes for disabled children. These exciting meetings were enjoyable, but the friendships Patty truly cherished were those forged from the doctors and medical staff she met along her journey which spanned from Dallas, TX to Miami, FL and everywhere in between. When raising special needs children the most important thing needed is support, and Patty would give and receive that support through Challenger Little League Baseball, Royal Palm Beach Special Populations, and The Children's Golf Foundation. Without her presence something will always feel incomplete. Her friends and family will deeply miss her at these activities. Survivors include her three sons Christopher, Anthony, and Jonathan Sapp, her mother Jane F. Scotto, her father John M. Scotto, her brother Michael S. Scotto, her brother-in-law Billy J. Sapp, and many other surviving friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at Palms West Funeral Home, 110 Business Park Way, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, at 5:00 PM, Monday, July 27. In lieu of flowers, send donations to Jon Sapp at 1378 Eden Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33417. To express condolences and/or make donations Visit PalmBeachPost.com/obituaries
