Family-Placed Obituary
CLARK H. DOWLING Clark H. Dowling, 92, of Jupiter, FL passed away August 15, 2010 at the Hospice of Palm Beach County in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Mr. Dowling was born March 16, 1918 in Watertown, NY to Lawrence L. and Doris Clark Dowling. He was educated in the Watertown school system and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1940. After a year of graduate work in Accounting at Northwestern University, he passed his CPA exam, receiving the Elijah Watts Selles Medal for the third highest mark in the country. During World War II, Mr. Dowling served in the US Army as a Warrant Officer in the 31st Infantry "Dixie Division." In 1946 Mr. Dowling returned to Watertown and became associated with Leon Robb, CPA and later became Senior Partner with Robb, Dowling, and Adams P. C., CPA. The following year he married Winifred Cerow Dowling (deceased 1994) and resided in Watertown until moving to Jupiter, FL in 1989. Mr. Dowling is survived by his wife, Lorine Smith Moran of Jupiter, FL; daughter, Suzanne Dowling Gardner of Roswell, GA; son, David C. Dowling of Williamsburg, VA and three granddaughters. A Private Memorial service is planned. Donations may be made in Mr. Dowling's memory to the Watertown Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, 200 Washington St., Suite 409, Watertown, NY 13601. Dear Lorine and family,
Clark was a pillar of the Oceancrest community for many years deftly handling our finances and administration voluntarily. We fondly remember him taking those morning beach walks in his bathing suit and, on appropriate occasions, a tie.
