DIANE DOXTAD MATTIS Diane Doxtad Mattis, age 65, of Singer Island, FL, passed away gracefully at Hospice Center of Palm Beach County on April 22, 2012 following a three year battle with cancer. Diane is the daughter of Floyd and Catherine Doxtad and was born in Sioux City, IA. The daughter of a farmer, she was raised in Ida County, IA and graduated from Holstein High School in 1964. After graduating, she attended Cottey College where she received her AA in Liberal Arts, after which she transferred to Drake University and graduated in 1968 with a BA in Business. During her career she worked for Hart Schaffner & Marx; Stix, Baer and Fuller; and Famous-Barr Co. as a fashion buyer in Omaha, Kansas City, New York City, and St. Louis. In 1978, she married Richard Mattis and entered the antique business in St. Louis. After her son, R. Brent Mattis, Jr., graduated from high school, she resettled to Singer Island, FL in 2000. There, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends, travelling across the country, viewing contemporary dance performances, collecting sea shells, sailing, yoga, and strolling on the beach with her long-haired Chihuahua, Elvis. A loving daughter, sister, and mother, Diane is survived by her parents, Floyd and Catherine Doxtad of Galva, IA; her son, R. Brent Mattis, Jr. of New York City, NY; her stepdaughter, Nancy Slater; her brother, Daniel (Julie) Doxtad; her nephews, James (Emily) Doxtad, Matthew Doxtad, Lucas (Donna) Doxtad, David Doxtad; and her great-niece, Stella Doxtad.
