Family-Placed Obituary
DOROTHY (HATTEN) HARTZOG Dorothy (Hatten) Hartzog, 92, of Juno Beach, FL and a summer resident of Manchester, CT passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 with her daughter by her side. She was born on March 23, 1920 in Pascagoula, MS, to the late Peter and Beulah (Webb) Hatten. On December 11, 1942 she married the love of her life, Virgil L. Hartzog in Meridian, MS. Subsequently, they moved to Connecticut where Virgil began his career at Pratt & Whitney and they started a family in 1946. "Dottie" and "Virg" were charter members of Community Baptist Church and the Lutz Children's Museum in Manchester. She volunteered at the Penny Saver in Manchester and the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. She enjoyed traveling the world and was an avid Bridge player. In her fifties she took up golf and was very proud of her hole-in-one at the Jupiter Dunes Golf Club in Florida. In recent years she enjoyed yoga. She is survived by her daughter Betty Hartzog of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Ginny Hartzog of Bolton, CT and her son Thomas Hartzog of Jupiter, FL. She will be deeply missed by her four loving grandchildren, Neil and Kelly Hartzog and their children, Devin and Julia of West Hartford, CT, Adam and Lindsay Hartzog and their children, Alyssa and Gavin of Manchester, Matthew and Renee Hartzog and their daughter, Allison of Bolton and Amy Hartzog of Bolton. Dorothy also leaves her two nephews, Webb and Neil Hatten and her niece, Betsy Shotts all of Mississippi. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother Roy Hatten, his wife Margaret and their son Peter Scott Hatten. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 9 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester, followed immediately by a brief funeral service at 12:00 PM. Gaga... On this eve of your services, I lay here with my family, remembering you, the love you had to give, and the truly wonderful and memory filled times we shared as a family. I will miss you dearly, but know now, that you are in a peaceful place watching over us like you always did. I love you from the bottom of my heart and always will. Please tell those whom I love that are with you now, I love them and miss them too...

Betty, Don & Tom: I know what you must feel at this time of loss. I only met your mother briefly, however I know that she had a strong spirit and remained very independent. She was quite a lady, and did not seem or act her age!
