Dr. Victor J. Serino, age 88, of Tequesta, FL died peacefully on April 1, 2013 with his family at his bedside. Dr. Serino is survived by his beloved wife, Maria (Carmy); his children, Maria and Dr. Brian Fitzgerald of Fairfield, CT, Victoria and William Sabo of Reston, VA, Domenic and Patricia Serino of Rutland, VT, and Thomas and Deborah Serino of Fairfield, CT. He was the beloved grandfather of Marc Fitzgerald (Alyssa) of Milton, MA, Kathryn Day (Matthew) of Westport, CT, Meghan Fitzgerald of Boston, MA, Christiane Sabo (Joseph Popperwell) of Reston, VA, Jocelyn Sabo of Los Angeles, CA, Laura Serino of Portland, ME, Sara Serino of San Francisco, CA, Thomas Serino of Annandale on the Hudson, NY, and Michael Serino of Rutland, VT; and the great-grandfather of Brady, Lucy, Connor and Kaitlin Day, and Madeline Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his sister Dolly and her husband Thomas Dillon, his sister Marilyn Pascarella, brother-in-law Thomas Feola and his wife Nancy and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Serino was predeceased by his parents Domenic and Maria Serino, brothers Louis, Joe, Pat, and Frank, and sister Phyliss. A native of Schenectady, NY, Dr. Serino graduated from the University of Vermont, and he received his DDS from the University of Buffalo School of Dentistry. Prior to his retirement to Florida, Dr. Serino practiced general dentistry for 40 years in Bridgeport, CT. He served as President of the Bridgeport Dental Association and as a member of the Connecticut State and American Dental Associations. Dr. Serino was an infantry combat veteran of World War II. He served on the front lines in Europe and fought under General Patton. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart medal. Dr. Serino served as communicant and as a member of the Parish Council at Saint Patrick's Church in Bridgeport, CT. In his retirement he served as lector at St. Jude's Church in Jupiter, FL. Victor was an avid gardener who spent countless hours tending to his prize winning roses. He was a cigar aficionado, enjoying his homegrown Connecticut Topstones. Love of family, his Catholic faith, and his profession of dentistry were the bedrock of his life so well lived. He touched so many lives and filled so many hearts with joy. There will be a funeral mass at St. Jude Catholic Church, Tequesta, FL on Thursday April 4, 2013 at 10:00 am. An inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations in Dr. Serino's name be made to the Wounded Warriors Fund.
