Julio Duran, Sr., age 85, of Royal Palm Beach passed away on May 16, 2013, surrounded by his family. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of over 66 years, Juana, his loving children, Julio Duran, Jr. (Georgia) and Maria Elena Miserendino (Chuck) and three treasured granddaughters, Cristina, Monica and Corrie Miserendino. Also surviving is one brother, Bruno Duran (Marta). Julio was born in Havana, Cuba on September 5, 1927 to Serafin and Anunciacion Arias Duran and was the fifth of six sons, predeceased by Serafin, Pastor, Eusebio, and Jose. He immigrated to West Palm Beach in 1956 and brought his wife and son in 1957, becoming one of the first 25 Cuban families in the area. He and his wife were founding members of the Cuban American Club. He proudly became an American citizen on November 9, 1962. Julio was known for being a hard working man first as an auto body mechanic and then in materials and supplies for West India Lines and Ranger Construction. He will be fondly remembered for his magic tricks, wood carving creations and playing dominoes with his granddaughters. Julio will be deeply missed by his family, extended family and many friends. Rest in peace, our Papi and Abui. Adios y vaya con Dios. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 20, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401 with a Scripture Service to be held at 7:30 PM.
