LYNCH, Matthew J.

Matthew J. Lynch, 75, of Lantana, FL. Matthew went peacefully to our Lord on July 3, 2013 at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, FL after a lengthy illness. He was born in Jersey City, NJ and resided in Matawan, Carteret, and Brick, NJ before moving to Lantana, FL. Matthew was the youngest child of the late Jersey City Fire Department Battalion Chief Matthew P. Lynch and Ward Leader Helen Elizabeth "Betty" (Lynch) of Freeman Ave., Jersey City, NJ. He is remembered by his daughter Maureen and husband Salvatore; son Matthew G. and wife Renee; two granddaughters Alissa and Ashley, and ex-wife Maureen (Pratt); all of Palm Beach County, Florida. Matthew is predeceased by sister Dorothy (Humenic-Burkhardt) and surviving spouse Frank of Gloucester, NJ, and predeceased by brother Edward Humenic and surviving spouse Ricarda (Queeney) of Lawrenceville, GA. He is survived by brother Lawrence and wife Betty (Hess) of Middletown, NJ. Matthew is survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins, Frank and Ken (Burkhardt), Larry Jr. and Brian (Lynch), Timothy (Humenic), Elise (Burkhardt), Mary Ellen (Humenic-Boissonnault), Tom Sr., Bernice, Tom Jr., and Robert (Post), Patty Ann (Post-Bartos), Maryellen (Lynch-Forgione), Nancy (Lynch-Holahan), and sister-in-law Florence (Pratt-Bogaenko). He is predeceased by nephews Ed Humenic Jr., Kevin Lynch and niece Mary Beth Post. Matthew serves as a proud reminder that we can effect positive change at any age with faith and determination. He supported Habitat for Humanity and the Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League. The immediate family will hold a private Christian ceremony.
