Troy Alexander DEVINE

Obituary Condolences

DEVINE, Troy Alexander

Troy Alexander Devine was born November 17, 1980 in Toronto, Canada to Olympia Devine and the late Ralph Lawrence Devine former Consul General for Liberia in Canada. Troy spent his early years roaming the conservation game farm in South Africa owned by his maternal grandmother where he developed his love for animals and creativity. His fearless enthusiasm and wonder enriched his childhood and created a treasure of talents in adulthood. Arriving in the States in 1990, Troy and his mother settled in Palm Beach where he attended Palm Beach Day School and St. Clare Catholic School and was graduated from The Benjamin School. Troy furthered his education at Florida Atlantic University and the University of Central Florida. A world-view and his continued fascination with all things led Troy to positions in marketing, photography and revenue at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Alberta, Van Style Inc. in Vancouver and the Royal Caribbean in Venice, Italy. The enthusiasms he brought to his jobs were transferred to his invaluable contributions at Devine Style Inc., a marketing, PR and special events company. He partnered with his mother to stage such events as Palm Beach Fashion Week, Palm Beach Style Rocks, Windows of Worth, W Magazine special events, Mar-a-Lago Club fashion events... and more especially the very successful Palm Beach Centennial Celebration. The Palm Beach Centennial was managed by Troy with efficiency, humor and perspective. He combined talent and sheer will to accomplish a once-in-a-century event, in less than two months. Troy's ability to coordinate time-lines, hundreds of volunteers, media deadlines and finances was masterful - and beyond successful, creating memorable events and happy participants who, to this day, speak in wonder that such a young man could do so much. Troy was a gentle spirit of the world. Traveling near and far for business and pleasure, throughout his life he maintained the wide-eyed wonder of a child, relishing every person and place he encountered. Ever optimistic, patient, open and accepting, Troy walked a very special road with wisdom and kindness. Troy Devine died peacefully after a Cardiac Arrest December 14, 2013 surrounded by close family. He is survived by his mother, Olympia Devine and his beloved Labrador, Chanel. Troy's funeral will be held this Thursday at 11:00 AM - St. Edwards Catholic Church, Palm Beach. The post funeral memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate his life. We are asking that in place of flowers, that donations are made in his name to the Tri-County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter in Boca Raton. Troy loved animals deeply.
