Jr. RATHGEB Obituary
Dr. John Mathias Rathgeb Jr., Doctor of Osteopathy (May 4, 1935-January 1, 2014) John "Dr. Jack" Rathgeb was born on May 4, 1935 in McKeesport, PA to John and Aileen Rathgeb. He attended Grove City College and went on to Medical School at Kirksville College. In Jack's second year of medical school, he went on a blind date with his future bride of 51 years, Sue Slowensky. Jack and Sue married on July 7,1962 and moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan where Jack completed his residency and practiced for some 14 years. The family then moved to Lake Worth Florida where Jack served until his retirement from private practice in 1998. Jack enjoyed life and experienced it to the fullest! He savored spending time with his family Sue, Jeff, Toni, John, and brother in law Teddy. Jack was a committed Christian and 50 year Mason who liked to play tennis, surf fish, snow and water ski. Jack is survived by his loving wife Sue Rathgeb, daughter Toni Savage (husband Gary), granddaughter Lauren Mattox, sister Lynn Kushner (husband Sheldon), brother in laws Teddy Slowensky and Joe Slowensky (wife Janie). Jack was preceded in death by sons Jeff and John. Services will be at Palms West Presbyterian Church on Sunday January 5 at 4pm and a Masonic Ceremony will be conducted in Cuba, Missouri at a later date.

Dr. Rathgeb was my favorite doctor ever. He even came to our house to treat me, "back in the day". I never forgot that. He was so kind to me. I loved Dr. Rathgeb above all my other doctors and was privileged to know him. Ruth Trexler, Lake Worth Beach, FL.

I only new Jack from when I was of pre-school age, and he and his family were our neighbors in Saline, Michigan. Jack and Sue indulging me as I visited every day following Jack around the house as he made home repairs. They were soooo kind. We were so sad when they moved to Florida. We loved their family so much. I would say rest in peace, Jack, but I never saw you rest. I'm sure you are still helping in any way you can. .

Dr. Rathgeb was our doctor. What a guy!! He even came to our house once to treat us years ago. We loved Dr. Rathgeb.

It was an honor to have met Dr. Rathgeb. He was not only the best doctor in town ever, he was also a caring, loving and wonderful human being. I will forever keep him in my prayers and he will be missed dearly. Thank you Dr. for taking care of me and my family , and for always making us feel special. Our deepest condolences to Sue, Toni and the entire Rathgeb family. Xoxo
