Marilyn LAMPERT Obituary

LAMPERT, Marilyn

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marilyn Lampert announce her passing on July 28, 2014. She fought a courageous battle against emphysema for many years. Marilyn Sternberg Linsky Lampert was born April 10, 1937 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA to Marie and Abraham Sternberg. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Marilyn attended Pennell Elementary School, Wagner Jr. High and Olney High School. Marilyn spent her childhood summers in Atlantic City, NJ. She became a medical technician at Lankenau Hospital and worked at a private lab in downtown Philadelphia. On June 2, 1957 in Merion, PA Marilyn married her handsome prince, Arnold, who at the time had a full head of hair. Marilyn leaves behind her beloved husband, Arnold Lampert of fifty-seven years and their five children-Michael Lampert (Stacey), Tony Lampert (Patti), Rene'e Tucker (Danny), Ilene Goldstein and Joyce Lampert, her eight grandchildren, Sydney and Madison Lampert, David and Ben Lampert, Max and Sam Goldstein, Felicia and Jenna Tucker, as well as her brother, Leonard Stevens of Medford Lakes, NJ. Marilyn's passions included her love of family, the arts including collecting both flat and glass art, theatre, classical music, piano playing, golf, boating, traveling the world and philanthropy. Marilyn was a true giver and a lifetime volunteer. When the children were young she was involved in the PTA and synagogue youth programming. She even took a stab at local politics in the mainline area of Philadelphia. Board involvement included Jewish Family and Children's Services and Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County where she was a Lion of Judah. She was the founding secretary of the Morse Geriatric Center. Marilyn was a lifetime member of Hadassah and supported other Jewish causes including AIPAC, Jewish Community Center, Meyer Jewish Academy, Hadassah, ORT, ADL, and JTS. Marilyn belonged to many synagogues including Temple Emanu-El of Palm Beach, Temple Beth David, Temple Judea and various Chabads. She was a member of the Kravis Center, Norton Museum and other venues throughout the world. The Lampert children could be anywhere in the world and people would ask if they were related to Marilyn Lampert. Marilyn was everywhere, every day, doing for everyone. The family requests that you consider contributions in Marilyn's memory to Alpert Jewish Family & Children's Services & Levine Jewish Residential & Family Service, West Palm Beach, FL, Jewish Community Center of the Palm Beaches, Hadassah, Meyer Jewish Academy or Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County. I remember your mom, Ileen. She was a sophisticated lady! (And Tony and Michael and Renee and Joyce.) Ileen, you visited me when I was sick. I would have shown my appreciation of her, if I knew she was sick. Love. Paul Landerman, Palm Beaches, [email protected]
