Donald A. Doyle(1926 - 2013)

Don Doyle passed away on November 10, 2013. He was 87 years old. In May 1943 and Don elected to join the U S Marine Corps. In March '44 he became the youngest Sergeant in the Marine Corps, just two months shy of his 18th birthday. He later served in the battle for Okinawa and spent two years occupation duty in China until 1948.
During the Korean "Police Action" as a Master Sergeant, he served two years as a radio operator on DC-4 transport aircraft. In 1952 he attended OCS at Quantico, VA and became a 2nd Lt. He was medically retired as a 1st Lt. in 1955.
Subsequently, he majored in Physics and became an engineer for Robertshaw Controls Co. for 31.5 years and retired in 1990. He holds 9 US Patents.
Don was actively involved in Paradise, pursuing his dedication to the military and his love of bowling. He was Membership Chairman for SIR's Branch 52, secretary of the Sir's bowling league for 4 years. He served 6 years as Commander of the Paradise Chapter 106 of the Disabled American Veterans, and drove over 50,000 miles as a volunteer driver for the Veterans Van, taking vets to Sacramento.
Don and his wife Nita recently celebrated their 6th anniversary in October, 2013. Between them, they have 6 daughters, 14 grandchildren, and 25 great children.
Services will be held Monday, November 18th at 2:00 PM at Paradise Chapel of the Pines, 5691 Almond Street, Paradise, CA 95969; Military Honors will be presented. There will be no graveside services or reception.
