John "Bill" Marler

John "Bill" Marler of Magalia, passed away on October 23, 2012 at the age of 87. He was born on May 20, 1925, in Sewanee Tennessee, to John W and Anthony Belle Marler.
Bill was a graduate of Oregon State University and was a WWII B-17 plot with a Bronze Star and Flying Cross medals serving in England with the 8th Air Force. He was a High School teacher from 1951-1977 teaching for 20 years at Gonzales High School. From 1977 – 2001 Bill developed Marler Construction with 3 sons and built many beautiful homes.
He was a real outdoorsmen, loved hunting, fishing, hiking and played tennis in his younger days. He was a member of the Magalia Community Church and in retirement his greatest joy was serving in the kitchen at the church especially the Annual Community Thanksgiving dinner.
Bill is survived by his lovely wife Dot of 68 years, his 3 sons; John (Elaine) Marler of Paradise, David (Pamela) Marler of Magalia, Robert "Bob" Marler of Seattle WA., grandsons; James, Sean both of Carson City NV and Thomas of Paradise, granddaughters; Jenna M. Marler of Paradise, Christine Waterstripe of Missouri and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, 1p.m. at the Magalia Community Church Chapel, 13700 Old Skyway Magalia. Burial will be in Igo, CA.
