Marjorie passed away on January 17, 2013, at Desert Hot Springs, California. She was born March 6, 1915, in Greenwood, Nova Scotia, to Lauretta (Leona) Maria Steele and Burpee Albina Spinney. In 1927, she moved with her family from Canada to Barre, Massachusetts.
After graduating from Barre High School in 1932, she married Kenneth T. Guertin. In 1948, the family moved to Los Angeles, California. Kenneth suffered a fatal heart attack in 1966.
Marjorie worked at the Northrop Corporation as an accounts payable clerk, retiring in 1970 to return to Barre to care for her mother. She moved to Paradise, California, in 1976, and worked for the Employment Development Department.
In 1981, she married T. Glen Jones and they moved to Pollock Pines, California, and later lived in Sacramento. She and Glen toured the United States extensively in their motor home, including a six-week trip to Alaska. They also traveled to Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong and the Philippines. Starting in 1985, they spent winters in the Desert Hot Springs area. After Glen's death in 2001, Marjorie made Sky Valley Resort her full-time home.
Marjorie's cherished her Christian faith. Over the years, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a leader in women's ministry. While living in Paradise, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Marjorie enjoyed playing pinochle, canasta, and board games. Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, making greeting cards, and doing word scrambles.
She is survived by her daughter, Marion Williams of Sky Valley and Paradise; brother, Lewis Spinney (Norma) of Fullerton, California; grandson, Steven Williams (Susie) of Canyon Country; granddaughter, Renee Williams of Hirosaki, Japan; grandchildren, Ryan Williams of Bend, Oregon, and Daniel Williams and Amanda Williams of Canyon Country.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 22, at 1 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Paradise. Burial will be Paradise Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Chapel of the Pines Mortuary in Paradise.
