Evelyn Jean Anderson received her heavenly reward on February 3rd, 2013. Known as "Evie", "Grams", and "GG" (great-grandma), Evelyn leaves behind many friends and family that will deeply miss her. Born February 27th, 1926 to Henry and Jenny Wobse in Chicago, Evelyn attended high school in Des Plaines, Il. Her first job after High School was as a typist of war bonds. Evelyn resided in Chicago, Long Beach, and San Jose, but settled in Magalia, CA after her marriage to Arthur Anderson in 1975.
The Guest Book is expired.
In her 37 years on the ridge, Evelyn was active in many community organizations. She worked as an admitting clerk at Feather River Hospital. In retirement she was a beloved member of the hospital Auxillary, volunteering at the outpatient clinic and for many other special projects. She attended water exercise classes at Sportshaven (now Fit One), and enjoyed the POA pool during the summer months. As a member of the Magalia Community Church, Evelyn enjoyed weekly Bible Study every Tuesday morning. A social butterfly, she was often on her way to do something with friends (often enjoying lunch afterwards!).
Evie had an adventurous streak and was always up for a trip, whether a cruise or traveling with an RV group. Prior to being widowed in 2003, she and Arthur took many RV trips, exploring much of the United States as well as parts of Canada and Mexico. Her grandchildren remember fondly their many campouts with Grandma Evie. She was also known to be found on the golf course or playing card games.
Evelyn was known for her friendliness, positive attitude, and generosity. She was a very special Mom, Grandma, and friend. She is survived by her sister Bernice Whitgrove, daughters Jackie Brooks and Sandy Denley, son Wayne Schneider, and step-sons Art, Bruce, Jerry, and Richard Anderson. She had many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 16th, at 11:00 am in the Magalia Community Church. We honor her life and memory by requesting donations be made in her name to the Auxillary of Feather River Hospital.
