Frank P. Quattlander Obituary
Frank P. Quattlander, 97, of Paradise died Monday, April 29, 2013 at Oak Knoll.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Paradise Grange Hall, 5704 Chapel Drive. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Feather River Health Foundation /Paradise Hospice, 5974 Pentz Rd, Paradise CA 95969-9978.
Frank was born and raised in New York City and its environs. After graduating from Cooper Union, a prestigious New York university, he was briefly a state trooper before being drafted into the U.S. Army at the start of World War II. During the war he served in the North African and Italian campaigns as a communications officer in the Army Air Corps. He remained on active duty after the war, and retired in 1967 as a Lt Col in the U.S. Air Force.
He was an enthusiastic golfer and an expert bridge player. For many years he also enjoyed square dancing. He was married for 65 years to his beloved wife Ruth, who died in 2010. Frank and Ruth moved to Paradise in 1992 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Frank was active in several civic organizations in Paradise, including the Elks, Sons in Retirement, and the Military Officers Association of America.
Survivors include his son Kenneth and daughter Karen, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
