Born in Nashville, TN her family later moved to Boulder City, NV while Hoover Dam was being built. She had the extreme privilege of going through the tunnels deep under the dam as they were being dug out of the rock, riding in the family's 1930 Ford. From age 12 she lived in Sacramento where she met and married Jack Silberstein in 1943. She made her home in Grants Pass and Corvallis, OR for several years, after which she served in the mission field of Zaire, Africa where she was affiliated with the American Baptist International Ministries.

Her main interest for many years had been weaving, which resulted in many woven gifts and items for her home. She was a member of the Mount Lassen Fiber Guild.
Roz, as she was called by her friends was interested in gardening, bird watching, singing and traveling.
She is survived by her husband Jack, sons Steve (Mary) of Arroyo Grande, CA; Ralph (Deni) of Grass Valley, CA; Ted (Alma) of Paradise; Tom (Diane) of Monmouth, OR; sister Marjorie Preis of Newcastle, CA; brother Lloyd Darden of San Clemente, CA; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Pearl Darden and sister Vivian Levy.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 10, 2013, 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Paradise 6500 Clark Rd. Arrangements by Newton Bracewell Funeral Home Paradise. Memorial contributions can be made to the Missions Fund, First Baptist Church of Paradise, CA.
