Eleanor was born in Berkeley, California to Rhea Eleanor Yeoman and Thomas Raymond Towle. She was the oldest child with one brother, Robert and two younger sisters, Dorothy and Paloma. Eleanor was raised in Thermalito, California and attended Oroville High School where she held the girls tennis championship for the last two years before her graduation in 1937. She then attended Pacific Union College in Angwin, California before finishing her training as a Registered Nurse (R.N). in Glendale.

Eleanor later moved to Berkeley to marry Robert Hobden in 1948. She had three children Kent, Troy and Garth that live in Pleasant Hill, Paradise and Diablo, respectively. Eleanor worked extremely hard over the years to make sure that all of her sons needs were always met. Eleanor also felt blessed to have two grandchildren, Derek (age 17) and Alaina (age 13) who referred to their grandmother as "GrandTree".
In Eleanor's later years, she continued to remain very physically and mentally active. With always a sense of humor, she volunteered at Feather River Hospital in Paradise, periodically attended the Auburn Gospel Fellowship and participated in a weekly study group at the Paradise Alliance Church.
Eleanor deeply cared about her family, friends and others that were not as fortunate. She was always the first to offer a helping hand and never expected anything in return. She knew that with her faith in God came a responsibility to help others and as a result left an indelible mark on everyone's life that she touched. She will be missed by many, but there is great comfort in knowing that her job on Earth is now truly finished and she is now with the Lord, free and happy and standing ready to show us around when it is our time to enter God's Great Kingdom
Services will be performed on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paradise Senior Center.
