Going Home with Love and Honor
Glenn was born on August 23, 1946 in Hartford, Connecticut to Edith and James Collins. There he attended and graduated from Hartford Public High School. After graduation, he continued in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the Army 1964, in the midst of the draft. Dad then completed three tours in Vietnam, and then continued his journey of military service which took him to places such as Japan, Korea, Fort Hood, TX, Fort Ord, CA, Fort Shafter, HI, and finally Fort Rucker, AL, where he retired from the U.S. Army, SFC. Glenn R. Collins. During his 22 years in the Army, he received many service awards. Expert Rifle national defense service medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with silver star and 2 Bronze stars, Parachutist Badge, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Aircraft Crewman Badge and Army good conduct medal.
Glenn R. Collins passed away at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife Barbra Collins and his children Frank Bengtson, Jennifer Roach, Elizabeth Collins, Melissa Collins, Step-daughter Shannon Schneider and Step-Son Johann Schneider. Also, his many grandchildren, Cayden, Sydney, Abigail, Liam, Daniel, Anthony, Leland, Riley, Lilly & Olen. In death, he will be joining his Mother Edith and Father James Collins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at The Rose Chapel, 6382 Clark Rd in Paradise between the hours of 4pm to 8pm. Glenn will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 12:30 at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road in Dixon, with full military honors he deserved.
