Donna Kennedy, age 87, of Paradise passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. At her request, no services will be held.
The Guest Book is expired.
Donna Margaret Keller was born May 15, 1925 in Reedley to Donald A. and Beryl B. (Bollinger) Keller and was raised in Petaluma where her father owned and operated Petaluma Printing Company. She attended Petaluma schools, graduated from San Jose State in 1947 and earned her masters degree from the University of San Francisco in 1977. She married Arthur C. Kennedy in Petaluma on December 28, 1946. Donna taught grades 2 – 4 during her 35 year career, lastly at San Jose Unified's Empire Gardens Elementary School. Immediately after her retirement in 1984, she became very active in the California State Retired Teachers organization, first in the Uvas Valley chapter in Gilroy and, after the Kennedy's 2000 move to Paradise, in the local Paradise chapter and Butte County Division 32. The Kennedys became enthusiastic supporters of the Paradise Symphony and Northern California Ballet. In addition, Donna joined the Paradise Friends of the Library Board and, after Art's 2008 passing, the Paradise Hospice Friday morning Brunch Bunch. She remained as active and supportive of these organizations as she could be until the last month of her life. Donna dearly loved shopping, traveling, and talking for hours with granddaughter Bridget.
Married for 61 years and 18 days, the Kennedy's proudest moment was their attendance at grandson Barry's 2001 United States Air Force Academy graduation. During their retirement years, they enjoyed 35 cruises, reading voratiously and raising great tomatoes and melons.
Donna's survivors include sister Leah Warren of Prior Lake, MN; sister-in-law Elinor Keller of Fair Oaks; daughter Kathy Rudd (Rex) of Medicine Bow, WY; son Craig of Paradise; grandson Barry Rudd (Jolene) of Navarre, FL; granddaughter Bridget Rudd of Tokyo, Japan; 2 perfect little great-granddaughters Segen and Willa Rudd of Navarre, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial donation to the
or to the Paradise Friends of the Library would be appreciated by the family.
