Richard (Dick) O. Pessner (born August 30, 1914) passed away at the age of 98 on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, after 66 years in Paradise, California. Dick and his wife, Jean, and three of their children, moved to Paradise in 1946 where he became foreman of Ream Ranch, managing 150 acres of orchards, strawberries, and potatoes. Dick's work ethic was legendary. The family was very active in their church and also served as foster parents for many years. Dick was well-known as a good citizen who modeled clean living and a kind word. He was Chico State College's Supervisor of Grounds. He also designed and cared for the well-kept Rose Garden at Chico State. Dick never believed in retirement and continued his own nursery business until he was 96. He is survived by his five children: Ron Pessner, Richmond, VA; Beverly Arbon, Mapleton, UT; Linda Walton, Magalia, CA; Madelyn Watts, West Point, UT; and Marilyn Cardon, currently in Lima, Peru; 21 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and family on Monday, November 19, at 9:00 AM prior to the 10:00 AM Funeral Services at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1275 Bille Rd, Paradise, CA. Interment will be at the Paradise Cemetery on Elliot Rd.
