Douglas James McDonnell passed away August 23, 2013 after battling complications that developed from previous stomach surgeries. Doug and his doctors both in Paradise and San Francisco fought valiantly, but at last he is free of pain and in heaven with his parents. Doug was born July 14, 1950 in San Mateo, but spent most of his life in Paradise, California where he raised his family with his wife of nearly 40 years. He was a carpenter by trade and a friend to all who met him. Doug was a wonderful man that could put all at ease and laughing within minutes. He was devoted to his family, friends, and dogs. He enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by them whenever possible. He is survived by his wife Belinda, his four children Wendy Steindorf, Danielle Schlisner, Jamie Shuman, Dereck McDonnell and his six grandchildren. He will be truly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held later this year by family.
