Elinor J. Munson Obituary
ELINOR J. MUNSON Elinor J. Munson went to be with the Lord on New Year's Day 2014. She had just celebrated her 86th birthday on December 17th. She had been living at Seneca Long Term Convalescent Hospital since October 2012. She was born on December 17, 1927 in Seattle, Washington to Mabel and Arthur Lindquist. Her faith and her children were the most important things in her life. She and her first husband, Morris Hayes, pastored their own church in the 1950's. This was the happiest time in her life. Elinor was an accomplished musician. She played the piano, organ, violin, accordion and lap harp. She had several careers during her lifetime. She was the executive secretary to the Head of the Music Department at Oral Roberts University. She also worked as a real estate agent, but her favorite career was owning her own gift store in La Mesa, California. She loved to entertain and was proud of her homegrown vegetables which she served to her guests. She was an avid gardener and had many beautiful rose bushes as well as gardenias in her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was also very active in the churches she attended. She loved to have college students as well as other guests over for Sunday dinner on a regular basis. In her later years Elinor and her husband, Fred Munson, visited Cypress Acres Retirement Home on a weekly basis with the Bible Singers for over 9 years. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Robinson (Bob) and Glenda Blackman (Gary), and her son, Stephen Hayes (Carmen), five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her three husbands, Morris Hayes, Norman Smith and Fred Munson. Her Celebration of Life service will be held at the Chapel of the Pines in Paradise, California on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
