Heitman, Walter Robert "Bob"  
Walter Robert Heitman (Bob) 1929 ~ 2015 Our loving father and friend to many has passed away peacefully at Cascades at Riverwalk in West Jordan, Utah, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2015. A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 29 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Park City, Utah. Walter Robert Heitman (Bob) was born in Bloomfield, New Jersey, on June 30, 1929. He lived an amazing life overcoming many hardships. He dropped out of school in 8th grade to support his family during the Great Depression. Young and in love, Bob eloped with his beautiful wife Helen days before he shipped out to the Korean War. He progressed to the rank of corporal, became the company clerk, and earned his GED while serving in the military. When he returned home from the war to Helen, they were married a second time in the Catholic Church. His first career after the army was with Asplundh as a "Tree Surgeon," as he used to say. With the strong encouragement of his father-in-law, Bob become a fireman in the Bloomfield Fire Department where he retired as captain and station commander after 33 years of dedicated service. In retirement, Bob and Helen moved to Lavallette, New Jersey, where they had many family and close friends nearby. Bob could often be found with close friend Jimmy "The Roofer" and many other friends at Windjammer, Klee's, or Bum Rodgers. Never far away were his dogs Mickey or Salty. Bob is survived by his son Robert Matthew Heitman, daughter-in-law Amy and grandchildren Brooke and Matthew; his daughter Jane Reed, son-in-law Pat and grandchildren Samantha and Michael; and his sister Madeline Schinestuhl. Bob is predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Helen Hannah Hildebrandt Heitman, his mother Gladys M. Machette, fathers Jack Heitman and Nelson S. Machette, sister Regina Angley and brother John Heitman.
