Peter E. Refakis(1942 - 2012)

Peter E. Refakis of 238 Golden Eagle Dr. Park City, UT died 11/13/12 after a valiant fight against brain cancer. Pete was born 12/10/42 in Fort Wayne, IN. He was the Son of Peter and Evelyn Refakis and married Carol Jeneson 4/12/69. He was a graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. in Management, a B.A. in Economics, and an M.A. in Economics.
Pete was an owner and operator of the Holt-Refakis Equipment Co. in Columbus, Ohio until 1995. He was active in community and civic affairs his entire life. He was past commodore of the Corpus Christi Yacht Club, in Corpus Christi, Texas, past member of the Columbus Athletic Club, Capital Club, Lake Hill Hunt Club, and Scioto Country Club in Columbus, OH. He was a member of the Park Meadows Country Club in Park City, UT serving as president, ski meister, and board member for many years. He was a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi, TX., Governor's Natural Resource Committee in Texas, a Ducks Unlimited member in Texas and Ohio, and helped establish a wetlands in Ohio; the Holt-Refakis Marsh. He had been a sportsman all his life. He excelled in J-24 and other sailing competitions, hunted and raised English pointers, was an NSBA Quarter Horse World Champion in western pleasure and enjoyed skiing, fishing, and hiking.
Pete is survived by his wife Carol J. Refakis of Park City, son Christopher Refakis of Denver, CO, son Michael Refakis, daughter-in-law Jessica Refakis and three grandchildren PJ, Ben, and Libby of Dallas, Texas, and brother Paul Refakis of Fort Wayne, IN.
A memorial service will be held 12/21/12 at St Luke's Episcopal Church 4595 N. Silver Springs Rd, Park City, UT at 10:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at the Park Meadows Country Club 2000 Meadows Drive, Park City, UT 84060. Pete's values, positive attitude, love of life, courage, and service of his fellow man will be remembered always.
