Laura Ann Murphy

Laura Ann Murphy (nee Savage) age 52 of Park City passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2012, at home with the comfort of family by her side. She was born in Concord, MA on May 4, 1959 and raised in Norwalk, CT. Laura graduated from Central Catholic High School in Norwalk, CT with the Class of 1977. She graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Boston University earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism with the Class of 1981 and went on to receive her MBA in Marketing from NYU.

Laura worked in the field of advertising in Manhattan, NY and Boston, MA before finishing her career as the Executive Director of Communications for the Office of Communications at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Laura was very proud of her dedicated team at Westminster College who helped get tasks accomplished throughout her many days of battling cancer.

Laura enjoyed days on the beach, lobster parties, and quiet evenings on the deck, at the family summer home at Sebago Lake, ME. She was an avid skier, and had many fond memories of trail hiking, exploring canyons, and camping throughout Utah with her husband Bob and daughters Jessica and Kelly. Bob's love of the outdoors opened many new horizons to her that she truly loved. His exceptional skills in the kitchen combined with his love of getting a group together for a party contrasted with Laura's hard driving, taskmaster nature, "I'll be at the office for a few more hours", work ethic. Laura knew she needed a person like Bob to bring balance to her life and she loved him for that. They truly were soul mates and best friends.

Laura was blessed with the gift of keeping friends for many years. Throughout her final days she had visits from all of her family, several high school and college friends.

Laura is survived by her husband Bob, and two fantastic daughters Jessica and Kelly, Brothers Tom (Debbie) Savage and Don (Pam) Savage, Sister Debi Weinshank (Art), many cousins, nieces and nephews. Many true friends too numerous to name.

There will be a Celebratory Mass for Laura at St Mary's Parish on the corner of Hwy 224 and White Pine Canyon Road, Park City, on Saturday, February 25th at 2:00 PM. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers Laura would appreciate donation to the Westminster College Scholarship Fund or The Huntsman Cancer Research of Ovarian Cancer. Condolences may be left for the family at www.olpinhoopes.com
