Roy Bradley Obituary

ROY EUGENE BRADLEY
left this world to join his Heavenly Father in his next life on December 22, 2012. Roy, also known as Gene, was born May 29, 1924 in Shawnee, OK. With his parents, Lee Roy and Mignon Abston (Davis) Bradley and his younger sister, Dixie Gail (8-19-26), Gene came to California and settled in Corona, CA in January 1928. The next year his youngest sister was born, Fanny May (1-20-29). He went through school in Corona until his senior year of high school when the family moved to Colton, CA. Gene graduated from Colton High School in 1943. During WWII he served in the US Navy, mostly in the South Pacific but also including a trip through the Panama Canal and along the west coast of South America. Home from the war, Gene married Mary Louise Schnetz in Colton, CA September 1, 1946. Mary passed September 11, 1990, after 44 years of a marriage which produced two children: Mignon Louise Bradley (6-16-1947) and John Eugene Bradley (12-06-1948). Gene opened and operated Budget King Meats in San Bernardino from the mid 1950's through the 1970's. He worked at various jobs in grocery and auto mechanics after that until he retired to focus on his passion, his vegetable gardens and fruit trees. Hosting family gatherings was a huge pleasure for Roy and he did it often, even up into his very last years. Roy Eugene is survived by his wife Blanche (Adela Taylor), whom he married January 1, 1997, his two sisters, Dixie and Fan, his two children, Mignon and John, 3 step-sons, David Taylor, Robert Taylor and Chris Taylor, 3 daughters-in-law Anne, Cheryl and Patty, 14 grandchildren, Sophia, Shawn, Alexander, Chris, Brandy, Jeff, Ashley, Nick, Michael, Jacob, John, Ashton, Kristin and Raquel, 6 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Zoe, Aedan, Dillon, Cash and Jackson, many foster children and many cousins, nieces and nephews. December 22, 2012, Roy passed away in his own home, the house he built himself, with his own hands, in the late 1940's and early 1950's with help from his dad and even some help from his grandfather, Alvin Bradley. He enjoyed noting that six generations of Bradleys had been in that house (though not all at one time) from his grandfather to his great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Roy Eugene's life will be held at Centerpoint Church, 170 West "F" Street, Colton, California 92324, at 2pm on Friday, December 28, 2012. Centerpoint Church was his favorite charity.

I will miss Roy's ever present smile. He was very loving to his wife,Blanche, his children, step-children, and all his family. He was always ready to share vegetables he grew, or goose eggs. I will pray for all who will miss him.
