ANN (NIKOLAS) GEFRE
July 18, 1921 - December 27, 2012
Ann, or "Little Annie" as she was affectionately known, was born and raised in Aberdeen, S.D. and passed away in her Reseda home of 63 years. Her husband, Anton "Whitey" preceded her in death in 1999. She is survived by her five children: daughters, Nancy (Robert) Bessenbacher and Alison (Robert) Lyon; and sons, Brian, Charles and Dale Gefre. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Robin (Eric) Scott, Brian Bessenbacher, Jamie and Jake Lyon; and three great grandchildren, Kelly Ann, Cameron, and Kevin Scott, plus many nieces and nephews and friends.
Ann was a devout Catholic. She was a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena parish. She attended Mass daily until her stroke prevented it. She worked many jobs to help sustain the family. She retired from Disney Animation, a job that she loved.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers from Quality Home Care, especially Catherine and Nida, the staff from Vitas Hospice especially nurses Sarah and Nara. Thank you also to Genny and Loretta, her Eucharistic Ministers who visited every week for five years. God Bless them all!
Annie was a tiny woman in stature but a giant in her love, compassion and faith. She was an inspiration to all.
A Rosary will be held at 1:45 p.m., followed by the Memorial Mass at 2:15 p.m., this Saturday, January 12th, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 18115 Sherman Way, Reseda. Inurnment will be private.
