SEAN JOSEPH TOERNER
53, of Temecula, CA, passed away on January 12, 2013 in Temecula. He is preceded in death by his father, John; and his brother-in law, J.P; and is survived by his wife, Paula; children, Justin and Georgie; mother, Patt; mother-in-law, Jean; brothers and sisters, Jack, Missy, Tom, Kathleen, Carol, Kevin and Chris; a host of loving and admiring nieces, nephews and family members; and family dog, Heidi.
Sean was born in Burbank, California to John and Patricia Toerner on July 30, 1959. He attended Notre Dame and Cleveland High Schools, and California State University, Northridge. He worked as a District Manager for Sears. Sean played baseball at CSU Northridge, where he was named NCAA Division II All-American second baseman in 1980. The San Francisco Giants drafted him in the 18th round of the 1980 amateur draft, and he played on their minor league teams from 1981-1983 until his baseball career was ended due to injury. He coached youth baseball for 13 years, and was also an avid golfer.
The funeral service will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, 41875 C St., Temecula, CA 92592 on Friday, January 18, 2013, 11:00 a.m., with Father Jerry Overbeck officiating. A reception will follow immediately after the service in the church hall. Heartfelt thanks from the Toerner family to the many friends who have offered their sympathy and support - we love you all. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toerner Children fund, c/o Paula Toerner, at Wells Fargo Bank, account number 3464705403.

I wanted to thank Sean for giving me a management opportunity when I was w/ Sears Holding Co., he always had a funny story when I saw him and was a great leader and friend. R.I.P.

I had the honor of working with Sean at Sears-he was always a joy to be around, an example for all in his admirable demeanor at all times and just a wonderful person. I will miss him. Thank you for allowing me to celebrate his life with you today.

Sean will be missed by more than most can imagine. He touched so many people and his legacy will live on through all of those that were privileged enough to be coached by him. May he rest in peace and may the family find peace in time.

Sean will be missed by all. I've enjoyed working for Sean, he was a great District manager. He truly touched my life and I will forever remember him. He was always so kind and soft spoken......just a wonderful person. My prayers are with the Toerner's family. Rest
