Antonio "Tony" L. Madrid

64, a resident of Hanover, NM entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1948 in Fierro, NM to Luis Madrid and Eustolia Loera. Tony grew up in California, but moved to Hanover, New Mexico in the last years of his life. Tony loved New Mexico, especially the area around Hanover/Silver City. More than anything else, Tony was very proud to have served his country, as a U.S. Marine, during Vietnam. The saying, "Once a Marine, Always a Marine," that was Tony. Tony struggled with his illness during his last years, but never gave up his love of life, spending time with family and friends. Also, if you never got to eat his "Red Cheese Enchiladas," you really missed out. Tony had the support of his wife, Dolores, who was by his side always, and his son, Armando, who was devoted to his dad. To you Tony, we were so proud of you and love you,. You will be missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores T. Madrid; two sons, Armando T. Madrid of Hanover; Michael Madrid of CA; five grandchildren, Marisa, Melissa, Michael Madrid, Toni and Andrea Torrez; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola Lujan of Redlands, CA; Lydia Alderete and Brother in law Richard of Redlands, CA, Lucy Larriba and brother in law Raymond of Redlands, CA. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tony Torrez. Interment will be at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers will be the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 358 Color Guard.
