Clara Evelyn (Mattics) Scherer

Clara Evelyn Scherer (Mattics)
Passed away on April 5, 2013 at age 75 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in La Junta, CO in 1937 and moved to Los Angeles in the late 1950's. In 1959 she married William "Bill" Scherer and lived in Manhattan Beach until her two daughters were born. She relocated to San Bernardino in 1962 where she spent the remainder of her life.
Clara was the founding manager of the GTE Credit Union in San Bernardino, and retired in 1990. She was a businesswoman and owner of "Phoneman" until 2007. She was very active as a Girl Scout leader, and served as a Sunday School teacher at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Her legacy includes two daughters, Becci Dunfee and Laura Ochoa along with six grandchildren Philip, Rhico, Bobby, Ruthie, Kirstin, Kevin. She is survived by her loving sisters Neva, Sue, Carol and Henrietta. She is especially thankful to her friend and caregiver Lili Soberano.
Clara and Bill will be interred together at Riverside National Cemetery on May 3 at 12:00 pm. A Memorial party will be held after interment at Clara's home in San Bernardino. www. Arlingtonmortuary.com
