It is with sadness that the family of LeRoy E. Smith announces his passing on September 13, 2013 in Monrovia, Calif. He was a proud patriot and served in the Army during WW II where he saw duty in the Pacific. He was married for 72 years to Catherine M. Smith who predeceased him by three weeks.
He was an active volunteer for the City of Monrovia and the Monrovia Senior Center. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, camping, reading, teaching pinochle and cribbage, and visiting with friends and family. He was a loving Dad and was loved by his friends. He is survived by two daughters, Josephine Burke and Jeannette Perez, sister-in-law, son-in-law, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers, a sister and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, September 19th at Douglass and Zook Funeral Home in Monrovia, Calif. Viewing is 3:00 and service is at 4:00. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the in the name of LeRoy E. Smith would be appreciated by the family.
