Thomas Scyphers

Age 88, died April 26, 2013

Tom was born to the late Jesse Benjamin and Daisy Scyphers, November 2, 1924 in Big Timber, Montana. He was one of 13 children. At 18, he joined the US Navy in 1943 and graduated from the Naval Air Technical Training Center. He became an Aviation Radioman during World War II and served for three years in Company 85, Class AR-5. He married the late Elaine Kelly in 1946 in Montana. They relocated to Canoga Park in 1956.

Tom worked for the City of Los Angeles for 35 years in the Street Maintenance Division. After retirement, he enjoyed playing cards, working in his yard, and spending time with his family. He could often be found at the ballpark, watching his son Mike, and grandson, Brett, coach and play baseball.

Tom is survived by his four children: Patricia Bauman of Echo Park, CA; Tom (Katie) Scyphers of Gardnerville, NV; Pamela (Bruce) Mask of West Hills, CA; and Mike (Sally) Scyphers of Camarillo, CA. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be held at Oakwood Park Cemetery in Chatsworth on Saturday, May 11th, at 11:00 a.m., for family and friends.

A Reception will immediately follow at Woodland Hills Country Club located at 21150 Dumetz Rd, Woodland Hills.
