Bonnie Jean Turner, daughter of Dorothy and Ellsworth Turner, was born in Elgin, Illinois. Bonnie Jean completed the United Airlines rigorous Flight Attendant Training School in 1951. While working for United Airlines as a Flight Attendant based in New York City, she met her husband of fifty-one years, Daniel M. O'Toole MD on a blind date while he was visiting New York from California. They pursued a coast-to-coast relationship racking up air miles on United Airlines. Their relationship touched down in Long Beach, California after Dan proposed to Bonnie and the two were married at St. Barnabas Church on October 8, 1955. The Lord looked upon this special couple by blessing them with four children. Bonnie was kind and always wore a smile amidst the bustle of raising four kids born two years apart. Bonnie love to travel but loved family vacations spent each summer 'on the sand' in Newport Beach most of all. Bonnie volunteered in the community with the Junior League of Long Beach, Long Beach Assistance League and at St. Mary's Medical Center. Bonnie loved time spent with Dan at the Long Beach Petroleum Club and Virginia Country Club where Bonnie was an avid tennis player and golfer. They enjoyed twilight golf together with close friends at the club, a game of bridge or entertaining at their home in the Virginia Country Club area of Long Beach. Bonnie O'Toole is survived by her four children and seven grandchildren. The O'Toole Family respectfully requests memorial gifts be made to the St. Mary's Foundation, designated to the Labor and Delivery Fund at 1050 Linden Avenue, Long Beach, California 90813.
Services will be held on Monday, May 12 at 11:00 am at All Souls Cemetery at 4800 Cherry Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90807. Respects may be paid from 8:30 to 10:30 prior to the family service. A family reception in her honor will be at All Souls Cemetery following the service for family and close friends.
