Our beloved mother and grandmother went to her eternal home on April 4, 2014, in Claremont, California at the age of 92. "Ev," as she was called by her friends was born on August 24, 1921, in Preston, Minnesota to Coy E. Spies and Aleda Farmer Spies. She grew up in California and Minnesota, attending elementary, junior high school and, college in California and high school in Preston, Minnesota.
She was married to William E. Joseph on February 25, 1943. They had a son and a daughter born in Minnesota and a second daughter born in California where they resided since 1949, living in Ontario, Montclair, and Upland.
Evelyn was a life long member of the Methodist faith; a devout Christian and example of God's love to her children and grandchildren. Before her marriage she was a secretary for seven patent attorneys and then worked in several doctor offices. She was an accomplished pianist and homemaker.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, her brother, Stan Spies, her son William E. Joseph Jr., and her granddaughter, Amy Catherine Saalig. She is survived by two daughters, Connie Saalig (Edward) of Upland and Lori Markowitz (Mitch) of Yorba Linda, her daughter-in-law Eloisa Joseph of Corona, and six grand- children; Kristen Saalig, David Saalig, Trevor Markowitz, Micole Markowitz, Adrian Henninger, and Dr. Elise Rio. She is also survived by five great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters and many extended family members.
Service will be held at Todd Memorial Chapel at 570 North Garey Avenue, Pomona on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 1:00pm. Burial at Bellevue Memorial Park in Ontario to follow service. Rev. Robert Calderhead officiating.
Mom, we will miss you so. But we rejoice in your renewed health and happiness with your Saviour, Jesus Christ.
