Richard Donald Fiedler, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11.
A lifelong resident of the Pasadena area, Dick headed the family business of Crown Fence Company, started by his father in 1923. In 1999 the business moved from its original home on Fair Oaks Ave. to Santa Fe Springs where Dick remained as Chairman of the Executive Committee.
Dick attended Pasadena schools including Marshall and Pasadena Junior College (now PCC) before graduating from the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA. Following college he joined the US Naval Reserve and soon after began his career at Crown Fence Co. In 1951 he married (the late) June Winslow and had three children.
Throughout his life, Dick was a generous contributor to the community in many ways. He joined Pasadena Rotary in 1969 and served as President in 1984-85. He helped found the California Music Theatre in Pasadena in the late 1980's, served on the board of Scripps Home and was a member of the Vestry at San Gabriel's Church of Our Saviour. With a lifelong passion for music, Dick was also a member of the church choir and a local choral group, the Town Singers.
Dick is survived by his wife, JoeAnn, his three children, Jenny Nicolaisen (Valencia), Julie Armstrong (Pacific Grove) and Eric Fiedler (Azusa), and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 5th at Church of Our Saviour, 525 West Roses Rd., San Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pasadena Rotary Foundation, 1145 Wabash St., Pasadena 91103, in memory of Richard Fiedler. Cabot & Sons, Pasadena
