FORTUNE, Virginia

Longtime Pasadena resident Virginia Fortune died peacefully February 5th at her home. She was one day short of what would have been her 96th birthday.

Virginia outlived two husbands: G. Earle Hodgson who died in 1967, and John Edward Fortune, A.I.A., who died in 1996.

Following a career selling real estate for the William Wilson Company in San Marino, she was active entertaining,
traveling, playing bridge, and volunteering at the collection of Huntington Memorial Hospital.

She was born Virginia Woodmansee on February 6, 1917 in Leon, Iowa. Following high school she traveled by bus to California to begin her adult life.

She is survived by daughter Nancy Hodgson of Long Beach and son Steven Hodgson of Roberts Creek, British Columbia, Canada; stepsons John Thomas Fortune of Arroyo Grande, California, James Fortune of Galveston, Texas, and Nicholas Fortune of Atascadero, California; and niece Marlene Walker.

Also by granddaughter Nicole Trout and great grandchildren Evan, Carter and Lindsey Trout; granddaughter Lisa Hayton and great grandson Jackson Hayton; grandchildren Paul, Sarah and Chris Hodgson.

Virginia was a member of the Legacy Gift Society of Huntington Memorial Hospital and the Associates of the University of Southern California.

The family held a private memorial service. Inurnment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale.
