Maria Luisa Avendano|
June 21, 1929 - June 20, 2013
Family and friends are saddened by the sudden passing of Maria Luisa Avendano.
She left this world peacefully after many years of life's good blessings. She was born in the fishing village of Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico, but immigrated to the United States in 1949, where as a single parent she raised 4 successful children.
Mrs. Avendano worked very hard all her life. In her youth she worked for a few of the fledgling factories in East Los
Angeles. In the mid 50's she was hired by Bills Paradise, where she worked for 35 years as a cook and waitress. She met many friends that lasted a lifetime. After retiring from Bills, she worked 13 years as a crossing guard for the Whittier Schools. There she met more friends and met hundreds of children, a job she loved and still missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Antonia Avendano Peregrina and her brother Roberto Avendano Verdugo.
She is survived by her children Rose Marie Sullivan and husband James, Silvia Salcido and husband Ralph, Alfred Astorga and wife Gladys and Anna Lopeman. Grandchildren are James, Michael, Aprilstar, Alexis, Jacquelyn, Ryan, Ralph, Ciara and David. She also leaves behind great grandchildren Corbin, Keilani, Makayla, Gianna and Jennavee.
A viewing will be held Thursday, June 27, 2013, from 10:00am to Noon, followed by a memorial service at 1pm in Chapel 120 of the Rose Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Whittier. A reception will follow from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the Swiss Park Banquet Hall in Whittier. The family thanks you for your loving thoughts and prayers.
