Martin Alexander Bourassa

May 3, 1923 - December 25, 2012

Martin was born on May 3, 1923 in Jefferson, South Dakota, the eleventh of twelve children. He passed away on December 25, 2012 in Lakewood, CA. As a young man, he was drafted into the Army and served his country in WWII as a staff sergeant and in the 95th Infantry. Before leaving, he married his hometown sweetheart, Lorraine, and celebrated sixty-seven loving years together. After returning home from the war, Martin soon started a career with Firestone Rubber Manufacturing, where he worked for 40 years as a production manager. In addition to raising three children, the couple provided love and guidance to an incredibly large family of relatives and friends. Martin is survived by his three children, Renee, Gary and Erin; twelve grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Gabe. He is remembered by countless others who were touched by his spirit. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 3, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary service immediately following at the Luyben Family Dilday-Mottell Chapel. Funeral mass will be held Friday, January 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cyprian Church, 4714 Clark Ave., Long Beach, CA.
