Haynes, Merle Edwin
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, age 90, entered peacefully into God's loving arms on April 9, 2013. Merle was born in Longmont, Colorado on June 23, 1922, and considered Pomona his home. After graduating from Pomona High School, Merle enlisted in the U. S. Navy during WW II. Following the conclusion of the war, Merle spent considerable years working at Loud's Machine Shop in Pomona, and additionally, worked for the Pomona Unified School District
..retiring in 1987. Merle will be remembered for always being gracious and warm. He ushered for many years at the Ontario Church of the Nazarene. A firm handshake was his trademark, and his well- worn Bibles reflect his commitment to Christ. Merle was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rose, and sons, Richard Eugene and Daniel Allen. Merle is survived by the widow of his late son, Patricia Haynes (Richard Haynes) of Upland, sons Merle Edwin Haynes, Jr., (wife, Linda), of Richmond, IN. and Gary Haynes, (wife, Deborah), of Granite Bay, CA. Additionally, Merle is survived by grandchildren: April Bean, Jeff Haynes, Darren Haynes, Jill Zettel, Jana Brown, Lauren Ferrara and Cameron Haynes, and also by 12 great- grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ontario Church of the Nazarene, 1311 W. 5th Street in Ontario. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Todd's Memorial Chapel in Pomona.
