GOSSWEIN, Roger Paul
Roger Paul Gosswein, age 87, died in his home in San Marcos, California, February 5, 2014. He was born June 24, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Ernst and Laura Gosswein, attending elementary and high school in Chicago. Following graduation, he served in the US Navy and was stationed in the Philippines. After his military service, he entered the
University of Illinois, completing his degree in 1950. Upon graduation, he worked for the Bell and Howell Company in Lincolnwood, Illinois. In 1962, a job transfer took him and his family to Temple City, California, where he lived for 50 years. In 1969 Roger changed careers and became a real estate broker, eventually owning his own business. He served as past California Association of Realtors Director and multiple terms as Regional Chairman.
A lifelong Lutheran, Roger was an active member of First Lutheran Church, Temple City, California, where he served in many offices and capacities. Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, and brother, Donald. He is survived by daughters Joyce (Randall) Sensmeier, Debra (John) Zaita, Cathy (Peter) Savage; grandchildren Philip (Katherine) Sensmeier, Christopher (Tamara) Sensmeier, Michael Zaita, David Zaita, Carly Savage; great-granddaughters Alaura Sensmeier, Abigail Sensmeier.
Visitation is at Rose Hills Mortuary, Whittier, California on Monday, February 10, from 5:00-8:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at Rose Hills Mortuary SkyRose Chapel on Tuesday, February 11 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park immediately following the service.
