Ruth Steinberg Obituary
May 9, 1930- November 3, 2013
Ruth Betty Steinberg of Calabasas, California, passed away at the age of 83 from complications of A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's disease). Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Herbert and Anna Frankel, Ruth met her future husband, Bernard Steinberg, while they were attending City College of New York, where Ruth graduated with a degree in Business Administration in 1951. In 1963, Ruth and Bernard, and their family of 3 young children, moved to the Los Angeles area, ultimately settling in Calabasas, Where Ruth lived for almost 50 years. Ruth had successful careers as a preschool teacher, a job-placement counselor, and for approximately 22 years as a D.P.S.S. eligibility Worker for the State of California. Ruth lived an interesting and fulfilling life, and was lucky enough to see much of the world in travels with her husband Bernard, who predeceased Ruth in 2003. Until the end, Ruth had love of Iife in her eyes and enjoyed visits from her family and friends. Ruth is survived by her sons and daughters-­in-law Peter and Amy Jo Steinberg, Jonathan and Susan Steinberg, daughter Jane Van Alstyne and Son-in-law Paul Van Alstyne, and beautiful grandchildren Paul Steinberg, Hollie B0 Steinberg, Spencer Steinberg, Andrew Heyman and Alyssa Heyman. Ruth is also survived by her loving brother, Julian "Frank" Frankel. Ruth is and will always be remembered lovingly by her family and friends, and hopefully is "doing the Ruth" in her place of eternity. In lieu of flowers, donations/remembrances may be made to any .
