R.C. (Dick) Cheney
Was born April 7, 1926, passed away peacefully at home April 8th in Fontana, Ca. Preceded in death by his daughter, Carol A. Greco, and survived by his wife Shirley M Cheney, sons Richard M Cheney, Clifford E. Cheney, grandchildren Melissa Reindl, Richard Cheney, Scott Cheney, Chris Cheney, and two great grandchildren, Benjamin Cheney and Jennifer Reindl. Dick was born in Westfield, Texas to Thomas Blan and Annie Viola Cheney. He was the youngest of five brothers and two sisters growing up in Conroe, Texas. He met his wife of 63 years while stationed in Big Delta, Alaska. They married August 28, 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dick served in WW 2 in "The Battle of the Bulge" in Germany and was awarded the Bronze Star on August 12th 1949. He served his country from 1944 to1949. He was a resident of Fontana for 59 years and worked for Kaiser Steel for 32 years as an overhead crane operator, retired , worked three years for California Steel and retired again. He was an avid golfer and could be found on any sunny day playing the game he loved. Dick and Shirley spent a lot of time outdoors and traveled to the desert in their motor home, rode atvs and took cruises to Mexico and Hawaii which they greatly enjoyed. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorial service will be held at Dickies' Mortuary, located at 8030 Mango Ave, Fontana, on Thursday, April 19, at 11 AM.
