was born and raised in San Francisco where he attended Lowell High School meeting the love of his life,his wife of 69 years, Rita, at age 16. His attendance at U.C. Davis was interrupted by WWII. He enlisted in the Navy immediately after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was assigned to the Naval Intelligence in S.F. Harry was selected for midshipman school, studied at Colgate U. and graduated from Northwestern U. as a commissioned officer and served in the South Pacific.
In 1947 he went to work for Earle M. Jorgensen steel company as a trainee, retiring 37 years later as Vice-President and a member of the Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife; Rita, children; Randy Christiansen (Trish), Cathy Phillis (Dave) & Nancy Neukranz (Tom), grandchildren; Corey and Morgan Phillis, Ryan Christiansen, Cate and Maddie Neukranz.
He was also a second father to his nieces and nephew; Nini, Rene and Janine.
He was first and foremost a people person. He loved to share stories and laughs with family, friends, and friendly strangers. Nothing made him happier than a sunny day by the sea (preferably El Morro) surrounded by family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday,
Dec. 28th 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, South Pasadena. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Covenant House or
