Beatrice Stathatos Obituary

Beatrice Laura Stathatos
October 20, 1922-December 24, 2012

Beatrice Laura Stathatos died December 24, 2012 at her home in San Marino, California. She was 90 years old. In her last days, as in the rest of her life, she was surrounded by friends and family who loved her. To the end she demonstrated her customary wit, warmth, courage and generosity of spirit.

Born October 20, 1922 in Los Angeles, California to Philip Teresi and Marietta SanfillipoTeresi, Beatrice attended St. Mary's Academy and Mt. Saint Mary's College in Los Angeles. After graduating she became an elementary school teacher, teaching third grade at Admiral Farragut Elementary School in Culver City. She met Dan Stathatos, then an owner of the Broadway Florist, and married him in 1950. They had four sons, Dan Steven Stathatos, Philip James Stathatos, Michael David Stathatos and Damon James Stathatos, and moved to San Marino, California. While her husband, Dan, founded and developed Stats Floral Supply in Pasadena, Beatrice devoted her considerable energy, warmth and charm to raising her sons, nurturing her relationships with her extended family, and volunteering for the many community causes that she believed in and supported, serving until recently as president of the Luminaires, the support arm of the Doheny Eye Institute. She was also active in a variety of parent-teacher associations, the Philoptochos Society of Saint Sophia Greek Church, and the Mothers' Guild of Loyola High School, among others.

Beatrice is survived by her loving husband Dan, her four devoted sons, nine grandchildren (Mary, Damon and James; Laura, Michele and Nicole, and Dan, Sean and Suzanne) and her first great-granddaughter and namesake Beatrice Marie, who was a special joy to her. It was a delightto know Beatrice, and she will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at St. Andrew's Church in Pasadena at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013.
