Robert Thomas Melendrez, a
much-loved husband, father, son and brother, Robert Thomas Melendrez, 31, of Covina, CA. passed away peacefully at home on March 25, 2013 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born November 5, 1981 in San Dimas, and resided in Long Beach, for the past 5 years, having moved from Covina in 2008 to accept a position as a Chemical Engineer at Clean Harbor Environmental Services. He graduated from Northview High School in 1999 and received a Bachelor of Science from Cal State Fullerton in 2004, and was a proud member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, but especially with his son. He loved brewing his own beer and visiting breweries with his wife. He was an avid Dodger fan and loved attending games. His smile was contagious and lit up every room he walked into. Robert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever by his many friends and family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 3 years, Melanie (Taylor) Melendrez and son Dominick, parents Thomas & Angelica (Bobbie) Melendrez of Covina, sisters Frances & husband (Joseph) Mooers of Covina, Deana & husband (Jamie) McCollum of Claremont, nieces Taylor & Madison Mooers, Mia & Olivia McCollum, nephews Kennedy Mooers & Christian McCollum, great-grandmother Josephine Melendrez, God-mother Bertha Stock, mother-in-law Regina Taylor, brother-in-law Jeremy & wife (Kristie) Taylor along with many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Julio Melendrez and grandparents Frank and Josephine Meraz.
A Rosary and viewing will be held at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Covina at 9:30 AM on Friday, March 29, 2013. Interment will be at Oakdale Memorial Park on Friday, with a celebration of life immediately following at his parents' home in Covina.
