Gary G. Orrell(1940 - 2013)

GARY G. ORRELL Gary ended a 40 year long battle with cancer and died July 31, age 73, at his home in Hemet. Gary was born in Portland, OR June 29, 1940 and was a graduate of Sweetwater High School in National City, CA (class of '58). He had a number of professions during his lifetime including 20 years with the San Diego and Riverside County Sheriffs offices. He later established his own business, Evictec, which operated in the late 80's and 90's. In later life he developed a passionate interest in antiques and did business through 2 shops in Beaumont and Yucaipa. Gary was an avid athlete (lettered in basketball and baseball) also a fisherman in his younger days and always remained a dedicated sports fan. He also cultivated a knowledge of military history and was always ready, for better or worse, to discuss politics. Most of all he was an artist in creating and nurturing friendships, as the vast number of people who have maintained contact with him over many decades can testify. He is survived by his sons, James and Robert Orrell, James' wife Krista, his sister Jodie Salas, 8 nieces and nephews, 12 grand nieces and nephews, and his ever-loyal companion Leon (the Labrador). Gary was married 4 times: twice to Jora Lee, to Carole, and to his last wife, Laura, in 2004. He is predeceased by Laura and his 2 sisters Marlene and Rene. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 16 at 11:00am at The United Methodist Church. 530 S. Buena Vista, Hemet, CA.
